Texas builds a house, part 4

A lot has happened in the past few weeks, and then, at the same time, not so much has happened.

The framers finished their work, along with HVAC, electrical, and interior plumbing. We passed a big inspection. Hooray. But then everything stopped as we waited for our windows and doors to come. The windows finally made it, but work had to stop again due to rain. Finally, the windows were installed. Unfortunately, the doors and skylights never made it. Again, time stood still while we waited for those doors and skylights. Two sets of doors and both skylights finally came, but the installers never showed up. It was a comedy of errors.

Finally, the first week of November brought with it sunshine and lots of productivity. The roofers finished the roof. The siders added the siding - piece by piece. The framers isntalled the skylights - twice. (They did them wrong the first time.) The plumbers came back and did something. The alarm guy installed (most) of the alarms.
The insulation people put in the insulation. (I am convinced that we could have saved some money in this job had we offered to do the insulation ourselves. Looks really easy, dude.)

Still, we ware waiting for the final set of doors. Our contractor has promised not to lose any time because of the missing doors. They're going to work around them and install them last. We received special permission from the city inspectors to do that, which is great news.

What's next? Interior dry wall, exterior painting, interior painting, and cabinets.

Also, we are waiting for the correct windows to be installed in the baby's nursery. Notice the obscured glass in the picture below. What were they thinking - the baby's room is one big shower?

Wow! Big progress since the last time I looked. The siding and windows look fabulous. Looks to me like you should be done in around 6 weeks (ha ha ha).
