Christmas

Texas spent Christmas Eve with his cousins at Grandma Star and Grand-Dee's house. There were a million presents, at least!

That night Texas left cookies and lettuce by the fireplace for Santa and his reindeer. (We were supposed to leave carrots, but we didn't have any in the kitchen. We heard that the reindeer will accept lettuce as a substitute.) In the morning we found the cookies and lettuce gone and in their place was a note from Santa and a candy cane. Cool!

On Christmas morning we opened presents virtually with GramZ, PawZ, and DeeDeeZ. We saw the snow in their backyard. It was almost as if we were there with them!

Texas enjoyed every second of his Christmas. What a lucky boy!

Christmas in San Diego!

Texas was lucky to have two Christmases this year. The first celebration was a real white Christmas with GramZ and PawZ Zubiller in New York. While there, he saw snow for the first time and snuggled with his grandparents from inside. Brrrr - it was cold! Back in San Diego, Texas celebrated a sunny California Christmas with blue skies, 70-degree weather, and endless sunshine. He played with his cousins Max and Benjamin, and danced with the Santa Claus at Grandma Star and Grand-Daddee's house. He also had his first taste of the annual Slipock Jello ("Jello 2009"). At the end of the night, we wished Daddy a happy birthday and ate a delicious chocolate cake. It was one big party!

Here are some pictures from his California Christmas. Enjoy!

Christmas in NY

Our trip to NY started off on the wrong foot. Our flights were delayed due to a massive snowstorm and by the time we arrived in Sayville at 1:30 in the morning, Texas was ready to go to the emergency room for a high fever and violent cough. It took a few days for all of us to recover, but we managed to have a great time nonetheless.

Texas loved looking at the snow from inside the house. There was over three feet waiting for us when we arrived. This was Tex's first time seeing snow and he liked to call it "big snow", "white snow", and "coooooold". We took him outside only once and he got a taste of how cold it truly was. He asked to come back inside immediately - that's a true California boy for ya!

Highlights of the trip included GramZ's famous lasagna, meeting Auntie DD Danielle's boyfriend Joe for the first time (thumbs up from everyone!), playing with Tex's new train set from PawZ, seeing the Sayville crew and meeting Oliver for the first time, and spending time at home with the Dodos. Overall, it turned out to be a great trip.

Each picture below includes a Christmas song that we felt best described the mood at that moment. Enjoy!

Christmas Time!

Texas celebrated his first Christmas with friends and family in San Diego. We had a big dinner at Grandma Star's house. His cousins Benjamin and Max were there, and Great-Grandma Gladys came, too. There were at least a million presents under the tree.

Texas got lots of toys. His favorite gifts were:
  • a ride-along choo-choo train from Great-Grandma;
  • an Adidas track suit from Aunt DeAnna and Uncle Dale;
  • the electronic console from Auntie Samanthi and Uncle Patrick;
  • a "Dick and Jane's Yiddish" book from Dodo Jon and Doda Jess;
  • his personalized license plate from Mommy (yeah, it's a bit early, but all the good ones will be taken by the time he turns 16!);
  • a video camera from Daddy;
  • a flapping cowboy pull-toy from Auntie Danielle;
  • a rocking chair from PawZ and GramZ;
  • and, the personalized name book from Grandma Star and Granddaddee.
It would have been even better if we could have seen GramZ and PawZ, too. Something to look forward to for sure. Of course, the best gift of all is Tex's health and happiness.

At the end of the night, Grandma Star surprised Daddy with the most delicious (and gigantic) peppermint birthday cake. It was great!

Here are a few pictures from Christmas. Enjoy!
