Texas builds a house, part 2

Lots has happened at our place in the past few weeks. The back end of the house was completely demolished. A cement truck came and laid foundation. We passed a number of inspections. The framing is going up. The port-o-potty is still here. I have a lovely view of it from my office.

We also decided to extend Tex's old room by 2 ft, which will give us an extra 20 sq ft overall. The room is decreasing considerably in size, so anything will help. Unfortunately, we have to go through the permitting process once again.

As for the interior, we are still working on matching the new flooring to the original 1919 wood floors. Our oven hood arrived and it is beautifying the front yard by hanging out on our porch. We selected tons of bathroom fixtures, too. Shopping is fun! Paying for it is not.

Here are some pictures of the latest. Enjoy!

The arrival of the cement truck: exciting times!

Going... going...

gone!

1937 financial newspaper: Buy IBM!

This is the truck that picks up and replaces our dumpster each week at 7am. It is very loud. Our neighbors love us.

This is the toilet that I always hated:

Texas and Daddy standing in the new house. All we need are some palm fronds and it will be perfect for Sukkot!

My favorite is Texas sitting on the potty!

The newspapers were found underneath the floor boards in the 3rd/back bedroom. So we know the addition was built sometime around then.

Unfortunately, the newspaper was all we found. No murder weapons. No jewels. No pirate's booty.
